The Mediterranean Gastronomy Educational Partnership (MGEP) is a collaborative initiative between the Institute of Tourism Studies, CAST, and Institut Lyfe, formally known as Institut Paul Bocuse.

Institute of Tourism Studies

Since its establishment in 1987, ITS has been dedicated to providing high-quality education in this field. Our experienced and committed lecturers offer a diverse range of study programmes, ensuring that students receive both theoretical knowledge and practical training.

Situated near the Malta International Airport and with a sister campus in Qala, Gozo, ITS offers a comprehensive selection of study programmes, ranging from Foundation (EQF Level 2) to Masters Degree (EQF Level 7).

One of the hallmarks of ITS is the emphasis on practical experience. Our students gain hands-on training in our state-of-the-art training restaurants, kitchens, and hospitality laboratories. Furthermore, our programmes include opportunities for local industrial trade practice and international internships, enhancing the students' learning journey.

ITS continuously expands its study programmes to address emerging industry trends and global challenges. Among its pioneering programmes, the Bachelor of Science in Diving Safety Management, developed in collaboration with DAN Europe, provides students with a specialised education in diving, tourism, and risk management. This programme equips dive professionals with the skills to enhance safety standards and business operations within the scuba diving industry. Additionally, the Diploma in Climate Friendly Travel, designed in partnership with SUNx Malta, prepares students to become next-generation leaders in sustainable tourism. This fully online programme explores the impact of climate change on travel and tourism, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to implement green policies and advocate for climate-conscious practices in the industry.

Through our Training School, we offer industry-focused training programmes designed to upskill and reskill professionals already working in the tourism and hospitality sector. A research center for the transition towards sustainable food

Our Research Center which is unique within higher education institutions for hospitality and food service, combines multidisciplinary scientific research and innovation.

Since 2008, the scientific work carried out here has contributed to the sustainable food transition that aims to meet the challenge of attaining a tasty, healthy, and sustainable diet for all and in all contexts, contributing to improving the well-being of populations, regardless of age and for every meal and situation.

It contributes to the evolution of culinary and managerial practices and to the quality of our teaching with a forward-looking vision of professions within the hospitality industry..

CAST

Founded in Brescia in 1997 as the Food Art, Science and Technology Center, CAST is an institution that trains in culinary professions such as cooking and pastry making, and in the management of the entire hospitality sector.

The educational offer includes three-year courses, in Italian and English, Higher Education courses, Professional courses and Masterclasses with entrepreneurs, managers, chefs and excellent pastry chefs dedicated to recent graduates in the sector, companies and professionals. CAST is the first institution in Italy to offer a three-year Bachelor's course with a focus on business management in the field of Cooking and Hospitality.

Since 2024, CAST has been part of the Plena Education Group, the Italian Educational Hub of creativity and culture, which includes different types of institutes active in the field of Fine Arts (RUFA), Design (SPD Scuola Politecnica di Design), Fashion (Ferrari Fashion School), Music (Saint Louis College of Music) and Linguistic Mediation (Ciels Group).
